I read this article today by Lindsay Roberts of what is says about A True Friend. I agreed to it and this is some of my thoughts.
In life we are always looking for friends, looking for someone that we can hang out with, sharing our good and bad times, looking for someone for accompany. To some they thought they found it but at the end they still lost the friendship, some they are living in the friendship of guessing, gossiping, making fun of others etc. Some only look for friends who they can make use of or to their own benefits. And of cause there are some who keep trying to find a friend but can never find one.
A True Friend
By Lindsay Roberts
I believe God sends us friends. They are gifts from Him. How do you know if you have a true friend? A true friend stands by you, lifts you up, and encourages you.
I am thinking of one particular time when I was extremely overworked. I started to feel the stress of having too much to do and not enough time to do it. God knew just what I needed, and He sent one of my dear friends to lift me up.
We sat in my car in the driveway, and she listened to my troubles. Then she started to give me words of encouragement from the Word. She would not let me get out of the car until I listened to her. She did not let me gripe or complain. Instead, she brought balance to my life by feeding my soul—my mind, will, and emotions, which is certainly where I needed the help—with positive things from the Bible. She did just the right thing, because the Word of God is a stabilizing force that brings everything into balance in our lives.
Our Lord was noted not for having friends but for being a friend. He is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24). He is the One who enters into all of lifes experiences with us, who strengthens us when we are tired, who rejoices with us when we are happy, who comforts us and encourages us when disappointments come.
Jesus is your Savior, but He longs to be your friend as well. Talk to Him every day, and look to Him to speak words of life and comfort to you, to bring strength and stability through His Word.
My Declaration of Faith for Today
I will spend time today talking with Jesus, my true and faithful friend.
After reading this, I paused for a while to think (maybe you should too) who are the friends that I should call them as my true and good friends. Friends that not just to play around with, for fun, talking only jokes but also one that bring me closer to God. And I thank God that clearly in my mind I can named some of them.
There are many circles of friends in my life, friends that I get to know from my schools, workplace, church, friends introduce by them and many more. Some that leads me to good and bad influence. So there will be times that need me to make good and wise decisions whether to follow what they do, where they go and how they behave. For it says bad company corrupts good character.
So I just wana end by thanking Su Ting and Amber for being my good and true friends for the countless things that we shared, for being there to help, encouraging and edifying each other when in need. And to some whom I may not mention but remember clearly of your help in many little ways. And of cause to our forever best friend Jesus, Who will never fail us in His promises.
Proverbs 27:17 As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.
